About Us
Our Story
In 1954, Dan Coleman, Dominic Selmi, and Ted Wright formed CSW Consultants to support post-war development in the San Francisco Bay Area. By the 1960’s, the San Francisco based civil engineering and land planning firm had grown beyond the Bay Area and was supporting development throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Italy, Brazil, Australia and Mexico. After a fire damaged the San Francisco office, the firm headquarters relocated to Marin County where the team continued to coordinate projects all over the world, but rededicated its focus on the growth of the surrounding communities.
In the early 1980’s, Al Cornwell, a Stanford trained engineer and licensed general contractor, joined CSW Consultants and soon became its president. In developing projects within Marin County, Al met and befriended local legends John Stuber and Dietrich Stroeh of Stuber-Stroeh Engineering. John was well-known and highly respected land surveyor and Diet was a prominent hydraulics engineer who brought a passion to nurture the community he’d grown up in to every project he took on. Before diving into the private sector, Diet served as General Manager of the Marin Municipal Water District and was known locally as the “Water Baron” after successfully averting a water crisis in Marin. Recognizing the opportunity to maximize their respective potential, Al, John, and Diet joined forces and in 1990 CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group (CSW|ST2) was born.
Today, under the leadership of president, Robert Stevens, CSWST2 is a thriving professional services firm supporting the engineering, surveying, and planning needs of public and private clients all over the Bay Area. Today we focus on providing innovative solutions to the revolving door of infrastructure challenges facing our communities. We also invest in the next generation of young engineers and surveyors because when they succeed, we all succeed with them. At CSWST2, we’re not just an engineering firm, we’re partners to our communities.
